This week I thought I’d share a little bit about myself with you all. Sometimes, as an erotic romance writer, people fall under the assumption that I am one hundred percent all about the kissy, lovey-dovey stuff all the time. I don’t know how other erotic romance writers feel, but there’s a bit more to me than just the topic of my books.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I love (LOVE) talking about and imagining all things erotic romance…in all forms…in a variety of ways. There’s nothing I love more than some time in my comfy chair with my latest read, a blanket, snacks, and a drink. Can you say Heaven (sigh)? Or perhaps, it’s engaging with a colleague or a reader about a related erotic romance topic? Or maybe I’ll be following current hot button issues in the industry such as trademarking words or bookstuffing. However you cut it, romance is my jam. And when I’m in, I’m all in.
But, I’m not in all the time.
When my erotic romance writing/reading hat is off and I’m just me, I’m really a very average, everyday woman making her way through the world, just like so many millions of women today. I have good days and bad days with an occassionally quite thrilling and fun one thrown in every now and then. And, I have typical hobbies and interests.
So, below is a short list of some of my favorite things. For starters, I’m an outdoorsy gal. I love to hike and camp…even though I’ve been taking a break from it (but that’s another story for a different day). But, one of my most favorite things to do outdoors is to kayak. **If I could figure it out, I’d insert a string of heart themed emojis right here, that’s how much I love it.** There’s nothing as chill as kayaking down a lazy river, or around a lake in the morning.
Then, there’s my rock collection. Yep, you read that correctly. Rocks. Love ’em. I have hundreds of rough amethysts, jade, tourmaline, quartz, obsidian, pyrite, lodestone, malachite, tiger’s eye…well, you get the picture. I love collecting and researching their properties and (warning: it get’s even nerdier)…cataloging them in a book.
Another one of my favorite things is watching movies. I’m a total movie buff, but don’t come to me if you want to go see the latest flick. I prefer to wait until the movie is released on DVD or stream it online. I love documentaries, foriegn films, indie films, horror, romance, action/adventure, Drama (with a capital D, thank you very much), and pretty much anything else that catches my attention.
Other favorite things include, Los Gigantes, Spain (where my family is from), vegetarian/vegan cuisine, cinnamon bears, fancy & eccentric socks, and essential oils.
So, there you have it, a few things I love. Much more than books and sex (though there is nothing wrong with that either).
